Into the woods by 8:30 AM to prepare for bottling. After a morning appointment, back to the woods by 10:30 AM to heat the syrup for finishing.
While using the filter press, noticed a small puddle of syrup forming under the pump. Completed filtering. Inspected the pump during cleanup: crack in the pump well container. A replacement part will arrive in a few days. Fortunately, only a small 2-3 gallons remains to finish and bottle.
Cloudy and windy all day. Mid-30s. Back to the farmhouse by 2:00 PM.
