Fewer sap collections then most seasons, but more gallons per collection.\u00a0 \u00a0 Good sugar content:\u00a0 started at 2.5\u00b0 Brix and never fell below 2.0\u00b0 Brix.\u00a0 No nitre during the first three boils was amazing.\u00a0 We struggled with bottling: let our temperature get away from us twice causing cloudy syrup and blew out the hand pump again.\u00a0 Over all the syrup was darker.<\/p>\n
The R\/O is back at the farmhouse.\u00a0 The tanks washed and pipes down.\u00a0 Finishing pan cleaned.\u00a0 Most equipment also back at the farmhouse.\u00a0 We were trying to beat the snow\/wintery mix.<\/p>\n
Snow totals are still unsettled:\u00a0 2\u201d-4\u201d, 4\u201d-6\u201d, 3\u201d-5\u201d.\u00a0 \u00a0Final totals all depend on where the warm\/cold line settles.\u00a0 To the\u00a0 West in MN, SD, NE they are getting a blizzard with 12\u201d-24\u201d and high winds.\u00a0 We had that last year at around the same dates with blizzard Evelyn.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow morning we can clean equipment in the house until the weather clears.\u00a0 We want to try a different method to clean the nitre scale from the flue pan.<\/p>\n\n\n
