Tree pressure went from 1 PSI this morning when it was below freezing to 13 PSI this afternoon when the taps started dripping.\u00a0 Although its limited data, it looks like tree pressure increases as the trees start to drip.\u00a0 It will be interesting to watch if higher pressures correspond to better sap runs.\u00a0 And could we start to predict from tree pressure how much sap to except.<\/p>\n
Found a leak in the R\/O.\u00a0 During the wash cycle yesterday the wash tank lost water.\u00a0 It should be a closed loop during the wash cycle that circulates water through the membrane.\u00a0 We use about 17 gallons in the wash tank.\u00a0 About half was lost.\u00a0 During the rinse cycle today we looked for the leak.\u00a0 \u00a0We could see drips under the 220 volt motor and a pump seal.\u00a0 Its unlikely two separate places could leak at the same time.\u00a0 As we continued to investigate we noticed two fine sprays from a pump drain valve.\u00a0 One stream went to the 220 volt motor.\u00a0 We loosened and tightened the valve several times and got it to reseal.\u00a0 \u00a0 Most likely there was a particle \u2013 tree bark, twig, small grain of sand, etc \u2013 that prevented a good seal.\u00a0 R\/O pressure seemed a little off yesterday during concentration:\u00a0 it approached 500 PSI.\u00a0 The R\/O automatically stops at 500 PSI to avoid damage.\u00a0 The floor around the R\/O was also unexpectedly wet.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see if the leak fix helps with R\/O pressure too.<\/p>\n\n\n
