Into the woods by 8:15 AM. \u00a0We washed the syrup pan last night so we were ready to go this morning. \u00a0By 9:00 AM ready to run in sap. \u00a0But the flow was restricted. \u00a0We thought frozen pipes so used the propane torch on the elbows and other places sap may accumulate and freeze. \u00a0Flow still restricted. \u00a0Got the pipe wrenches to take apart the pipes looking for obstructions like trigs or bark. \u00a0Reconnected and tried again. \u00a0Still restricted. \u00a0The obstruction had to be by valve because we could get sap at other joints. \u00a0Took off the valve. \u00a0Struggled to get that off. \u00a0 Did not feel any obstructions. \u00a0Blew into and out came the obstruction. \u00a0Reassembled the pipes and got back to cooking. \u00a0This problem took two hours to resolve. \u00a0We lost about 2 \u00bd\/ hours cooking time.<\/p>\n

About 3:30 PM we started filtering and bottling. \u00a0Needed to be done, but lost more cooking time. \u00a0Bottled 24 qts and 17 pts.<\/p>\n

At 6:00 PM we started the R\/O to empty the large storage tank. \u00a0About 125-150 gallons of concentrate to cook tomorrow. \u00a0 \u00a0We filled a milk can with syrup today. \u00a0 Back to the house by 8:15 PM.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
