{"id":364,"date":"2014-03-12T01:44:22","date_gmt":"2014-03-12T01:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.mapleacres.com\/?p=364"},"modified":"2014-03-12T01:44:22","modified_gmt":"2014-03-12T01:44:22","slug":"fields-opening-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mapleacres.com\/?p=364","title":{"rendered":"Fields Opening Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The warm weather the past two days settled a lot of snow on the fields. \u00a0The plow rows and corn stalks are starting to appear from under the snow.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Did not freeze overnight. \u00a0Up to 40 today, but cloudy. \u00a0The trees are still in hibernation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We did manage to get one quart of sap from two taps. \u00a0It measures 2 Brix which is typical sugar content.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A neighbor who was a tool and die maker with a lathe and machine shop made a stainless steel spout for our bottling valve. \u00a0The spout is about 8\u201d long. \u00a0The old spout was made of brass.
