This seasons seems like Mother Natures apology for last season.\u00a0\u00a0 Last season: short, warm weather, small crop.\u00a0 This season will bring a bumper crop.\u00a0\u00a0 We collected 385 gallons of sap today.\u00a0 When finished and bottled this should put us over 100 gallons of syrup.\u00a0 In so many of the past seasons warm weather has been our foil.\u00a0 This season just keeps going and going.\u00a0 Sugar content did drop.\u00a0 Yesterday we had 3 brix.\u00a0 Today was 2.4 brix.\u00a0 That’s a big change.<\/p>\n
Cooked last night until 2:30 AM.\u00a0 Actually that was this morning.\u00a0 Four hours of sleep then back into the woods by 7:15 AM.\u00a0 Overnight down to 27 or 28.\u00a0 Today was mostly sunny and 52.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A few sprinkles this afternoon, then the sun appeared again.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
We started collecting a little after 4:00 PM.\u00a0 On the west side of the woods the pails we full.\u00a0 But as we worked to the east side, the quantity decreased.\u00a0\u00a0 We always start collecting on the west side of the woods so those trees run after the pickup.\u00a0 And the next day they have sap again.<\/p>\n
