It did not freeze last night.\u00a0 Today was mostly sunny and into the 50s.\u00a0 The forecast was for cloudy weather.\u00a0 Got that wrong.\u00a0 Tomorrow rain is forecast.<\/p>\n
Into the woods by 8:00 AM for what we knew would be a busy day.\u00a0 Got our pan cleaned and had a fire going by 8:30 AM.\u00a0 Checked some buckets: mostly full, as expected.\u00a0\u00a0 Pushed hard on boiling because we knew we would need the storage tank space.\u00a0 We also had to bottle: we had a milk can full of syrup.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 By 10:30 AM the syrup was on the finishing pan.\u00a0 The stage was set, would we get help?\u00a0 By 11:30 AM we were still alone.<\/p>\n
Between 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM all kinds of people showed up to help.\u00a0 Still not sure where they all came from.\u00a0 One was experienced at driving tractors, so that assignment was easy.\u00a0 There was a family with two boys.\u00a0 A nephew also came.\u00a0 And two sisters.\u00a0\u00a0 So now collecting, cooking and bottling were all happening at the same time.\u00a0 Much different from earlier in the week when this was a solo operation.\u00a0 It was nice not to collect.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
We bottled 30 quarts and 1 pint.\u00a0 We also collected 585 gallons of sap.\u00a0 All our storage tanks are full.\u00a0 We have about 30 hours of cooking ahead of us.<\/p>\n
And visitors came.\u00a0 Three or four families.\u00a0 The kids seemed to enjoy playing in the mud.\u00a0 Gave everyone the tour.\u00a0 They enjoyed it.\u00a0 We enjoy having visitors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
