A neighbor came this morning to pull the tractor from the woods.\u00a0 We got the tractor to the garage.\u00a0 Looked it over to see if we had a broken link or missing pin in the clutch system.\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 Took a ride up to a tractor repair shop.\u00a0 Described our problem.\u00a0 They said its the clutch.\u00a0 In the 30+ years we had the tractor we haven’t replaced the clutch.\u00a0 Estimated $800 to $1000 to repair.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
They had some other tractors there for sale.\u00a0 There is a nice Massey Ferguson.\u00a0 $3500.\u00a0 Very good condition. It too is about 40 years old.\u00a0\u00a0 They offered to let us use it this week while the H is in for repair.\u00a0 If it works out, it we may purchase it.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n
About 3:00 PM they came with the trailer to drop off the loaner Massey and pick up the H for repair.\u00a0 Took the Massey for a drive through the woods to see how it would do.\u00a0 Early observations:\u00a0 where there is an existing track, it moved OK.\u00a0 When trying to break a new track in the snow, it gets hung up because it has much less clearance then the H.\u00a0 There is no bucket on the Massey either so we can’t clear a path.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Wednesday a storm is moving in.\u00a0 It seems now we will be more on the rain side then the snow side.\u00a0 Farther north they will get 4\u201d-8\u201d of snow.\u00a0 We are may get 2\u201d-4\u201d with rain mixed in.<\/p>\n
