Completed tapping.\u00a0 We put up 101 taps in the morning.\u00a0 This afternoon we put up 40.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That should give up 416 taps, give our take 5.\u00a0 Its a good thing we don’t have to be accurate with our tap count as we always seem to loose track.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The sap was running today again.\u00a0 The taps we put out on Wednesday and Thursday have 3-5 quarts.\u00a0 We are planning to collect tomorrow. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Today as sunny and warm.\u00a0 Up to 47.\u00a0 Its supposed to freeze tonight.\u00a0 Tomorrow is forecast to start sunny, then clouds and maybe rain in the afternoon.\u00a0 But the forecast is changing rapidly.\u00a0 A snow storm is now forecast for Sunday:\u00a0 maybe 6\u201d of snow depending on where the storm tracks.\u00a0 Cold air is pushing down from the North and warm moist air pushing up from the the South.\u00a0 Depending on where those air masses meet will determine how much snow we end up with.<\/p>\n
The snow in the woods has been hard to walk in.\u00a0 With temperatures in the 40s the snow gets soft and wet.\u00a0 And usually that will cause the snow to pack down when we drive the tractor over it.\u00a0 But is staying loose and graining, more like sand.\u00a0 The tractor has a difficult time getting traction.\u00a0 The front wheels stop rotating and act as a plow.<\/p>\n
